De Dorze-hut heeft drie ruimtes. Er is een voorraad/slaapruimte.

En een leefruimte voor het vee. Het vee verblijft vooral ’s nachts in de ruimte dit als bescherming tegen roofdieren. Ook zorgen zij door hun aanwezigheid voor extra warmte voor de familie.

Midden in de hoofdruimte brandt (bijna) altijd een vuurtje en de traditionele wierookpot begint ook al aardig te walmen. Het is duister in de hut. Er komt alleen licht door twee ronde openingen in het dak, die dienen voor ventilatie en als schoorsteen. De rook vindt maar moeizaam de weg naar de schoorsteen en blijft grotendeels in de hut hangen.
